To Be Seen
Teen Bubbler Group Exhibition
January - February 2022
To Be Seen was a collaborative exhibition at the Overture Center in early 2022. Young people are often expected to claim their own spaces, yet societal systems actively work against them. Often, staying invisible is easier. Claiming space takes bravery, openness, and support, yet finding belonging within that space allows youth and their peers to thrive in their fullest forms.
This exhibition features two bold murals. In the summer of 2021, these works were each painted by a different group of young people, in a different location, with the guidance of a different artist. Despite those context differences, “I Belong” and “Crowns in Chaos” were both created with the same deep level of intentionality, truth, and care.
